Honors & Scholarships
Hard work pays off
We know you’ve worked hard, and we greatly appreciate your efforts! That’s why at Illinois, if you’re admitted to the Gies College of Business, you’re automatically considered for all scholarships and honors programs through your freshman admission application. No additional application is required.
The top 10% of admitted students will be invited to enter the Gies College of Business as part of the James Scholars program, which expands your educational opportunities beyond the minimum requirements.
Named for one of Illinois’ distinguished presidents, Edmund P. James, the program recognizes students of extraordinary ability and achievement. All students admitted to the Gies College of Business freshman class will be reviewed for the James Scholars program. If you’re invited, you’ll be notified in March.
Between 35-40 incoming freshmen will receive invitations to join the Business Honors Program, a leadership program that provides students with unique opportunities that can help create an enhanced Gies College of Business experience for all students.
Along with academic achievement, we’re looking for leadership skills, social diversity, creativity, community service activities, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. All students admitted to the Gies College of Business freshman class will be reviewed for the Business Honors Program.
Around 10% of the incoming freshman class will receive merit-based scholarships from the Gies College of Business. There is no separate application for scholarships for incoming freshmen students; all students who’ve been admitted are considered, and award winners will be notified in March.
