Assistant Professor of Finance
Vyacheslav Fos is Assistant Professor of Finance, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Fos studies empirical corporate governance, financial markets, and activist shareholders. His most recent research showed how activist shareholders purchase shares in targeted companies. In his dissertation Fos looked at the disciplinary effects of proxy contests on companies’ valuation and their capital structure, investment, and CEO compensation decisions. Fos earned the WFA SAC Capital PhD Candidate Award for Outstanding Research for his work which is titled “The Disciplinary Effects of Proxy Contests.” Research Grant from BNP Paribas Hedge Fund Center at SMU and Paul and Sandra Montrone Doctoral Fellowship are amongst Fos’s other varied honors and fellowships. Fos earned his PhD in finance from the Columbia University, Graduate School of Business, his MA (with distinction) in economics from the Ben-Gurion University, Israel, and his BA (with distinction) in economics from the Ben-Gurion University, Israel.
