Biographical Sketch

Experience Jim has over seventeen years of experience providing tax consulting and compliance services to a variety of clients. Jim specializes in use of flow-through entities such as partnerships and S corporations. He is a member of the Washington National Tax – Passthrough Group and is the national competency co lead of Passhroughs for Deloitte Tax. Jim has been very active in restructuring projects that include preparing a partnership for a public offering, assisting clients with C to S conversions and consulting on various acquisitions including analysis of asset versus stock deals and joint venture arrangements, cash flow modeling and tax deferral and minimization strategies. Jim has also given presentations on partnership taxation matters to the Tax Executives Institute and with the Illinois CPA Society. He also actively participates in the Firm’s national training and leads the Chicago office training on flow through entities. Jim is currently the Deloitte Tax Diversity & Inclusion leader for the Midwest. He also is the “Dean” for Deloitte Tax’s innovative Dbriefs U, a program designed to provide supplemental tax and career learning to students at our top ranked universities. Jim has considerable experience in the estate planning field with a strong background in trust taxation. He has consulted on several trust consulting projects over the years for high profile families. Jim is currently the Chair of an AICPA task force on Trust Accounting Income. He has also given numerous presentations with the IRS National Forum.
