Dilip Chhajed

Professor of Business Administration

Biographical Sketch

Dilip Chhajed is a Professor and Executive Director of Masters Programs in the Department of Business Administration. He earned his B. Tech. in chemical engineering from IIT, Mumbai, India; an M.S. from the University of Texas in Dallas; and Ph. D. from Purdue University.

His current research and teaching interests are in operations management with focus on three main areas: process improvement, supply chain design and product/process design. Of particular interest to him is health care industry and studying problems that span the interface between operations management and marketing. He has published in journals such as Marketing Science, Management Science, Operations Research, Naval Research Quarterly, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, and Journal of Product Innovation Management. He is an associate editor of Decision Sciences, and has served on the editorial boards of INFOR , e-Locator, M&SOM and International Journal of Operations, and Quantitative Management. He has co-edited (with Tim Lowe) the book titled, “Building Intuition: Insights from Basic Operations Management Models and Principles.”

Professor Chhajed teaches in the MSTM and the Executive MBA programs. He has taught at the University of Warsaw, Poland; Sogang University, Purdue University; and GISMA in Hanover, Germany. He also teaches in the MS-Tech program. He has been on the university’s Incomplete List of Excellent Teachers for many years and has received the Executive Educator of the Year award in 2000.
