Joseph T. Mahoney earned his doctorate in Business Economics from Wharton. He joined the College of Business in 1988, and is currently Professor of Business Administration and Caterpillar Chair of Business. He has published over 60 journal articles, which have been cited over 7,500 times from scholars in 72 countries according to Google Scholar. His research book, Economic Foundations of Strategy, has been adopted by over 30 doctoral programs domestically and internationally. In 2011 he received the Irwin Outstanding Educator Award from the Business Policy & Strategy Division of the Academy of Management. In 2012 his election as an Academy of Management Fellow places him in a group of about 190 from its 11,000 membership.
