George Heideman ’34 was 18 years old when he arrived on campus in 1930, ready to cash in on a four-year scholarship worth $25 per semester.
82 years later he is celebrating his 100th birthday.
Jeffrey Brown, professor of finance and director of the Center for Business and Public Policy, is a friend of Heideman, “George is a brilliant and engaging guy with a strong interest in monetary policy, corporate governance, and fiscal policy. He is a great Illini and avid supporter of the College.”
Heideman (left) is shown here with his friend Frank Miller, a fellow resident
of Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The two visited campus in October, 1999 for a Reunion Weekend.
