The Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy of Management has announced that the 2011 Irwin Outstanding Educator Award recipient will be Professor of Business Administration and Caterpillar Chair in Business and Director of Graduate Studies Joseph T. Mahoney of the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Award will be presented during the August 2011 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management, to be held in San Antonio, Texas.
The three primary criteria of the Irwin Award are:
(1) Demonstrated outstanding teaching capabilities in business strategy over an extended period of time and the ability to enable future strategy scholars to contribute original research as well as teaching effectively;
(2) Had an important impact on strategy pedagogy through demonstrated expertise; and
(3) Cares deeply about the subject of Strategic Management, and the development of her/his students.
