On November 19, Provost Linda Katehi announced that Professor Larry DeBrock, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Acting Associate Dean of the Faculty in the College of Business, has agreed to become Interim Dean of the College of Business, effective January 1, 2008, pending approval by the Board of Trustees.
Dean of Business Avijit Ghosh, who has been on partial leave this fall semester, accepted a position as Vice President for Technology and Economic Development for the three-campus University system. Dean Ghosh has provided exceptional leadership for the College of Business since his arrival on campus in 2001. Through the fall semester, the college and the campus have been very ably served with the leadership of Acting Dean Greg Oldham.
Larry DeBrock joined the Illinois faculty in 1979, upon earning his Ph.D. in Economics at Cornell University, and he has been an Associate Dean in the College of Business since 2000. Larry is an accomplished scholar with special research interests in applied microeconomics focused on topics in industrial organization, regulatory issues, and health economics. He will serve as Interim Dean until a permanent dean has been identified through the search process.
