Howard Engle elected Chair of the Illinois Board of Examiners
Howard S. Engle, co-founder of the ILLINOIS MS Tax Program, Chair of its Board of Advisors, and faculty member since the Program’s inception, was recently elected Chair of the Illinois Board of Examiners for the 2014-2015 year. Appointed by Governor Quinn to the Board of Examiners in 2012, Engle served as Vice-Chair for the year just ended. The Illinois Board of Examiners has responsibility to oversee the credentials of all individuals sitting for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in Illinois and makes rules and conducts examinations to determine qualifications related thereto.
Howard, a retired partner with the Chicago office of Deloitte, is the consummate tax professional who is a leader in both in the profession and the classroom. His long and distinguished career as an international tax expert enables him to bring a rich blend of technical and practical tax knowledge to the classroom when he teaches the International Taxation course. Brian Whitlock honored by Illinois CPA Society
Brian Whitlock, MS Tax faculty member since the Program’s inception, was recently honored as the 2014 recipient of the Illinois CPA Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was given in recognition of Brian’s commitment and contributions to both the Illinois CPA Society and the accounting profession. We are honored to have Brian as a member of our faculty where his commitment to the profession carries over to our students. In teaching the ‘Taxation of Closely-Held Business Entities and Their Stakeholders’ course, Brian brings a wealth of technical knowledge, practical experience, and humor to the classroom. He teaches students a broad spectrum of skills from technical excellence to the psychology of providing outstanding service to clients. In recognition of his skills in the classroom, he was voted the Faculty MVP by the Classes of 2009 and 2010. Read more ›
