Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups in organizations, as well as the study of organizations’ role in shaping economic and social life of societies. It encompasses topics such as leadership, teams, power and influence, negotiation, organizational identity, innovation, corporate governance, institutional change, and organizational design, among others. Organizational Behavior is an interdisciplinary topic area. Indeed, the organizational behavior faculty often hold joint appointments and/or have affiliations with departments across campus. This includes Psychology, Sociology, and Labor and Employment Relations. Faculty members are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Our research addresses the topics listed above and more. It regularly appears in the top journals in the field, and indeed our faculty members hold leadership positions in the discipline’s professional associations as well as editorial board memberships in its most prestigious scholarly journals. As a result, the organizational behavior faculty has been instrumental in shaping the field of management and organizational studies, and we aspire to continue to have significant impact on the future of research and practice.
The organizational behavior area develops leaders who influence the lives of teams, organizations, and societies. We offer core and elective courses at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels. The courses equip students with essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes to excel as leaders in whatever specialty area they choose, whether that is finance, marketing, accounting, information systems, or process management.
