Expand your educational and leadership opportunities light years beyond the minimum requirements.
James Scholars
The James Scholar Program encourages high achieving undergraduates to expand scholastic opportunities beyond the minimum requirements. Named for one of the University of Illinois's distinguished presidents, Edmund P. James, this program recognizes students of extraordinary ability and achievement. The top 15% of admitted students will be invited to enter College of Business as part of the James Scholars program. All College of Business students have the opportunity to petition to become James Scholars once they demonstrate outstanding academic achievement as a freshman student.
Business Honors Program
Around 40 incoming freshmen will be selected for the honors program, which includes special seminars, intensive dialogue with College of Business faculty and business leaders, and international travel. Along with academic achievement, we're looking for leadership skills, social diversity, creativity, community service activities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. You're considered for the Honors Program after extensive review of your admissions application and an interview.

Dean's List
Earn a semester GPA of 3.8—or better—in 14 graded credit hours (beginning fall 2010) to make the Dean's List, available each fall and spring semester.
College Honors
College Honors is available to grads with a cumulative GPA and ILLINOIS coursework of 3.50 for Honors, 3.75 for High Honors, and 3.90 for Highest Honors.
Beta Gamma Sigma
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student (anywhere in the world) can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International. Juniors in the top 7% of their class and seniors in the top 10% are eligible for membership in this honor society.
