EDUCATION
>Graduated from Villa Grove High school in 1977. In 1990 I
attended Mattoon Area Adult Education classes taking secretarial skills.
EXPERIENCE
I was a Domestic Engineer most of my life. In 1996 I began
working in the College of Business, Undergraduate Affairs office
as the Dean’s Receptionist. I left the office for about 6 months
to work in Capital programs. It didn’t take me long to realize
that the Undergraduate office was where I belonged. I came back to
the College of Business, Undergraduate Affairs office in 1998 when
the office acquired a new position of Advising Secretary.
BACKGROUND
I grew up 20 miles from here. In what other state can you
get all types of weather in one day? In Illinois if you don't like
the weather, stick around and it will change.
HOBBIES
I like the outdoors, sitting in front of a campfire looking up at
the stars. I also like to fish as long as someone is there to remove
the fish from the hook. Reading is a close second to fishing.
WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING WITH STUDENTS?
Most students come into our office needing answers to their questions
or to solve what they think is a major problem. I can give them answers
to general questions and help with a lot of their problems. If not, I
can usually find someone to help them. It’s great to see the smiles
on their face when they know that they can 'just pop in' and ask a question
that I can answer.
WHAT MOVIES DO YOU LIKE?
I like history and documentary movies. About the only movies I don’t
like are James Bond movies.
WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
With growing up in the 70’s and having teenagers now, I can handle
all types of music to a certain extent.
FAMILY
I have two boys - one in the Air Force, the other graduating HS.
WHAT WARM FUZZY ANIMALS DO YOU LIKE?
At the present we have a 9 year old Akita, named Jerky.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE THAT YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN YOUR LIFE?
Try, try, and try again. If all else fails, try reading the instructions.
