WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING WITH STUDENTS?
I learn from students. Education is the exchange of ideas. Students provide me with the inspiration for my best ideas.

HOBBIES
Hiking, travel, the music of Frank Sinatra, movies.

BACKGROUND
Baltimore, MD. I moved to Illinois because my wife was offered a position on the faculty at the University of Illinois. She is an art historian.

WHAT MOVIES DO YOU LIKE?
Dr. Strangelove, Casablanca, The Lady Vanishes, Cold Comfort Farm.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
My favorite song is Mack the Knife. Oldies from 1950s, 60s, and early 70s and American popular standards. Frank Sinatra.

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE THAT YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN YOUR LIFE?
The greatest happiness comes from making others happy.
