EDUCATION
I attended Saint Louis University for two years and then transferred to the University of Illinois Urbana. I received a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Programming focusing on special populations. While working, I began my Master's degree in Social Work, completing it in 1978. I worked in child welfare for some time then went back to school, again at night, and eventually earned an Associate's degree inData Processing.

EXPERIENCE
My experience is varied but there are the common threads of analysis and caring. I have worked as a child abuse investigator, therapist, programmer/analyst, and in administrative roles involving both aspects of my training working with people and data.

HOBBIES
I enjoy gardening and love to read, particulary mysteries. In the winter I often crochet afghans, and occasionally embroider. I enjoy reading about financial matters. Someday I would like to learn to do stained glass work.

BACKGROUND
I was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. I am the oldest of seven children and had some responsibilities caring for my younger brothers and sisters while growing up. Reading was a great escape for me.

WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING WITH STUDENTS?
I remember feeling lost when I got to college. I felt great pressure to do well, find a major and a career. I had some tough times, and there was no one to talk with. I felt very alone. I like to think that I can be there for a student experiencing the same thing. Providing assistance to others is a core value of mine. I get great satisfaction when I can help another person.

WHAT MOVIES DO YOU LIKE?
Comedies and 'chick' flicks top my list but we watch a lot of action movies too. Scary movies -- no way.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE?
I enjoy the music from the 60's and 70's and further back from there. Blues are favorites as well.

FAMILY
I am married with a son in high school. We are all really busy with our jobs and other responsibilities but do enjoy each other's company.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
To whom much has been given, much is expected. I had a childhood where all of my needs and some of my wants were provided. My husband and son, friends, health, educational and professional opportunities are all great gifts. This quote my father often repeated says I have an obligation to use these to make a difference in other people's lives.
