Reading
through this issue of Business News, I am pleased to see
the number of articles on entrepreneurism. In just the last
month, we've hosted two lectures and awarded three scholarships
in this area.
Billionaire
Sam Zell visited campus
to share his personal success story and philosophy.
At
a Lunchbox Lecture on campus, Paul
Magelli took a 50-year look back at the entrepreneurial
climate on the Urbana campus.
Three
students,
each a successful entrepreneur, were awarded Steven Miller
Scholarships last month. Miller, a principal with Origin
Ventures in Chicago, is a loyal alumnus who generously
supports the education of students who have pursued their
dreams.
More
than three years ago, the College's Agenda for Excellence
identified entrepreneurism and new venture creation as a
distinctive intellectual focus we would pursue on behalf
of our students. We are seeing the fruits of our labors.
Sincerely,
Avijit Ghosh
Dean
