This month the College co-sponsored a visit to campus by
noted entrepreneur and businessman, N.R. Narayana Murthy,
who presented the 21st Beckman Lecture. Murthy, chairman
of the board of Infosys Technologies, discussed the future
of the software industy in India.
Next month, the College will host a visit by Hatim Tyabji,
executive chairman of Bytemobile. Tyabji will give the 2005
Cozad Lecture on Entrepreneurism. Please accept my invitation
to join with students, faculty, and staff of the College
of Business as we gather on October 11th for his presentation.
The College of Business offers a rich intellectual environment
to our students. Distinguished corporate leaders and visionaries
such as Murthy and Tyabji also engage with our alumni and
members of the community through their public presentations.
If your travels take you to Urbana-Champaign when we have
such guests, I hope you will consider joining us. If you
are unable to be present, please read the articles on the
College website that summarize the thoughts of these business
leaders.
