Professor Kenneth Perry Fellowship
W. Brooke Elliott was awarded the initial Professor Kenneth Perry Fellowship beginning August 16, 2010. The Perry Fellowship was established by former students to recognize Professor Perry and to honor his contributions to accountancy education. He earned his Ph.D. from the University in 1953. Professor Perry was a professor of accountancy at the University of Illinois and for many years taught the University’s CPA review course.
Upon receipt of the award Professor Elliott said, “I am honored to have been chosen as the first recipient of the Ken Perry Fellowship. The fact that the fellowship is sponsored by Ken’s former students is an amazing testament to the impact that he has had as an educator. I have been told by my colleagues that know Ken that I exhibit a similar enthusiasm in my academic pursuits. I hope that my enthusiasm in sharing knowledge with the students here at the University of Illinois will have a similar impact.”
Professor Ira Solomon, head of the Department of Accountancy, stated, “The Perry Fellowship is a wonderful honor of a truly outstanding scholar, Professor Ken Perry. Professor Elliot is most highly deserving of this fellowship as it recognizes her excellence in faculty research and teaching.”
