According to preliminary research data looking at 50 years (1959 to 2008) of published work in the top 5 accounting journals, the Department of Accountancy in the College of Business has had a substantial impact on the accounting literature. Of the 626 top-ranked authors identified in the study, 54 have connection with our college either as faculty or former students. Seven current faculty members (blue entries in the list below) share a total of 76 appearances. All together ILLINOIS shares 551 appearances representing nearly 6% of the 9,315 appearances accounted for in this study.
The study, a working paper by Jean L. Heck from Saint Joseph’s University, gives some indication of the strong influence ILLINOIS has had on the field of accountancy.
