ILLINOIS Gets High Marks On Sustainability Report Card
The College Sustainability Report Card, an extensive assessment of “campus and endowment sustainability activities at colleges and universities in the United States and in Canada,” has released its 2010 report (www.greenreportcard.org). Currently, it is the only comparative evaluation of its kind and in it culminates some of the great strides being made at ILLINOIS.
The University has received high marks for its sustainability efforts in the areas of administrative leadership, energy conservation, food processing, green buildings, transportation infrastructure, and student involvement. The Business Instructional Facility, the campus’ first green building, was prominently noted in the report and continues to play an important role leading the way toward a more sustainable future.
While the report highlighted areas of possible improvement, the individual scores represent impressive advances made by a large research institution. ILLINOIS remains focused on changing the local community, the State, and the world through its leadership and education of future leaders.
