Savings Behaviors and Our Choice of Investments Subject of Research
5/26/2005

How much we save and the ways we choose to invest are topics that Associate Professor of Finance Jeff Brown researches.
Because the Bush administration is advocating personal retirement accounts, retirement savings options are getting a lot of press, and Brown is often quoted:
- We're not saving enough. A variety of factors -- beyond the rate of return and tax rates -- make a difference (Post-Dispatch, May 15)
- Annuities are changing and making a comeback, but investors need to be aware of the impact of fees (Knight Ridder News, May 21)
- Annuities are now being indexed for inflation (Wall Street Journal report, May 25)
Brown, who has traveled with the President Bush as he tours the US drumming up support for personal retirement accounts and Social Security reform, commented earlier in the month about the intense debate about changes to the Social Security system.
