Norma Lauder has been appointed interim academic program director for the Masters of Science with a specialization in Taxation program based in Chicago. Ira Solomon, Department of Accountancy head and professor, made the announcement in early November.

“Norma is a welcome addition to our tax program in Chicago,” said Solomon. “She offers us many years of experience as a senior tax executive with several top-ten financial service organizations as well as public accounting knowledge. Her strong management skills and leadership experience will be a significant advantage to the program.”

“I am excited to be part of such an outstanding program and thrilled to be part of the Illinois team,” said Lauder.

Lauder received a BS in accountancy from Illinois and has an MS in taxation from DePaul University.  She was most recently with Discover Financial Services and has held senior management positions at  J.P. Morgan Chase and its predecessor companies, Beatrice Companies, and Arthur Andersen.

The Masters of Science with Specialization in Taxation (MS Tax) is a 12-month graduate degree that equips students with a strategic perspective and strong analytical skills. The program is geared towards tax professionals with at least 2-3 years of work experience in the tax field.
