Chicago, Ill.— The College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will host its first annual “It Pays to Innovate” Executive MBA scholarship competition on its Chicago campus, located at 200 S. Wacker Drive, on June 29.
The College is offering the winner a full tuition scholarship to the Illinois Executive MBA program, valued at $55,500. Second prize is a 50 percent tuition scholarship worth $27,750.
The scholarship competition is the brainchild of Raj Echambadi, academic director for the Illinois Executive MBA, who wanted to introduce motivated prospective students to the type of innovative thinking and leadership that will be required of them in the Illinois Executive MBA program. It also affords students the opportunity to set themselves apart from other candidates.
“At Illinois, we focus on innovative thinking and leadership in a connected world,” Echambadi said. “We want our students to have every opportunity to hone these skills along with effective communication and structured problem solving required in today’s business world. The scholarship competition focuses on skills that we feel are required for success at a top Executive MBA program and beyond.”
Working professionals will not want to pass up an opportunity like this, Echambadi says.
“This scholarship competition will help candidates see their potential in the program while also identifying top talent,” he said. “Our well-respected program, ranked number 14 nationally by The Wall Street Journal, runs every other weekend for only 20 months. Even without a scholarship, it’s a great career investment.”
The Illinois Executive MBA is a nationally-ranked master’s program dedicated to providing students with the skills and experiences to lead organizations in the 21st century. The program combines instruction from some of the top business faculty in the world with experiential learning opportunities such as an exclusive capstone global experience. Throughout the second year of the program, student teams work on an international consulting project in which they tackle real problems of a real company based overseas, culminating in a presentation in the client’s home country.
