On Stage with the President:
Jeffrey Brown Participates in Town Meetings
Following
his state of the union address on February 2, President George Bush traveled
to five states to encourage support for his Social Security proposal,
which includes individual retirement accounts for younger Americans. Present
at his Fargo, North Dakota, and Great Falls, Montana, conversations was
Department of Finance Assistant Professor Jeffrey Brown, whom Bush recently
nominated to the Social Security Advisory Board. The trip was well documented
on the major news networks including CNN, Fox, and MSNBC.
Brown traveled on Air Force One for the trip from Fargo to Billings where
he reports that the President asked about Fighting Illini basketball.
The White House website documented the President's visit to Fargo and
caught him laughing with Brown following his remarks.
