B. Joseph White Appointed to College of Business Faculty
B.
Joseph White was appointed as the James Towey Professor of Business
and Leadership and a member of the faculty in the College of Business
in November. He will be affiliated with the Department of Business
Administration. Recently named as the next President of the University
of Illinois, Dr. White joins the University on February 1, 2005.
B. Joseph White is currently the Wilbur J. Pierpont Collegiate
Professor at the University of Michigan. He was the interim president
of the University of Michigan in 2002. Prior to that Dr. White was
the dean of the Michigan Business School for ten years beginning
in 1991. In addition to his academic experience, Dr. White also
served seven years in two vice presidential posts at Cummins Engine
Co. from 1981 to 1987.
A native of Detroit, he earned his PhD in business administration
from the University of Michigan in 1975 after earning a masters
degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School
and a bachelor of science in international economics at the Georgetown
University School of Foreign Service.
