Library To Ring in New Academic Year With New Name
The
University of Illinois renamed the library facilities associated
with the College of Business effective with the 2004-05 academic
year. Becky Smith, head of the unit and an associate professor of
library administration, announced the new name -- the Business and
Economics Library (BEL) -- in an email to faculty and staff earlier
this month. The new name better reflects the services and collections
available to the College and to the Department of Economics.
Smith said that students and faculty have been enthusiastic about
the name change, which was suggested by a College of Business student
who serves on a library advisory committee.
BEL is located in the east side of the main library. The library
website is www.library.uiuc.edu/bel.
