February 18, 2003 Steven Miller to Present Leighton Lecture on Ethics February 24, 2003 Steven Miller, former CEO and president of Shell Oil Company, will present the Leighton Lecture on Ethics on February 24, 2003 in 114 David Kinley Hall at 5:15 p.m. The title of Miller's talk is "Ethics, Values, and Business in the 21st Century."
Miller retired from Shell in 2002 and formed SLM Discovery Ventures later that year. The company pursues commercial ventures in support of volunteerism, social outreach, and higher-education academic achievement. Miller has a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois in chemical engineering. He had a long career with Shell, culminating in his three years as CEO, president, and chairman of the board. He is a director of the University of Illinois Foundation and is a trusteee and vice chairman for the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast. The Leighton Lecture was established in the College through the efforts of Richard and Grace Leighton.
