APPOINTMENTS
Faculty appointed to named professorships this past year are:
- Andrew D. Bailey, Jr., professor and head of accountancy,
to the Ernst & Young Distinguished Professorship in Accountancy.
- Clifton E. Brown, professor of accountancy, to the H.T. Scovill,
Professorship in Accountancy
- Charles M. Kahn, professor of economics, to the IBE Professorship
in Economics
- Greg R. Oldham professor of business administration to the
C. Clinton Spivery Professorship in Business Administration
- Jay R. Ritter, professor of finance, to the Fred S. Bailey
Memorial Chair in Finance.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Peter F. Colwell, ORER Professor of Real Estate, was elected
president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association
(AUREA) for 1995.
- Stephen P. D'Arcy, professor of finance, was selected as a
University Scholar. This prestigious designation is given to
faculty across the campus in recognition of their outstanding
contributions to teaching, research, and public service. University
scholars receive a stipend of $1200 for each of three years to
be used to support their scholarly activities.
- Hun Y. Park, associate professor of finance, was awarded the
American Association of Individual Investors Award by the American
Finance Society for his paper entitled, "The costs and Benefits
of Endogenous Market Making: The Case of Dual Trading."
He and his co-authors will be recognized at the AFS annual luncheon.
- Wayne Shafer, Commerce Alumni Professor of Economics, was
elected a Fellow in the Econometric Society.
- Ira Solomon, KPMG Peat Marwick Distinguished Professor of
Accountancy, served as chair of the audit section of the American
Accounting Association for 1994-95.
- Bart Taub, associate professor of economics, was awarded a
1995 Guggenheim Fellowship to study contracts as a means of producing
information in society. He was one of 152 scholars across the
nation to receive this distinguished award and the only University
of Illinois faculty member to receive one this year.
- Richard E. Ziegler, the Grant Thornton Professor of Accountancy,
was selected to receive the St. Louis Accountancy Committee Excellence
in Teaching Award. He was recognized for this achievement at
a reception in St. Louis on May 24.
