From tax expert to tax educator.
Norma Lauder's distinguished career in tax planning, compliance, and accounting at Discover Financial Services and Bank One makes her a tax expert. Her role as the academic program director for the College of Business MS in Taxation program in Chicago makes her a tax educator. "This is my dream job," says Lauder. "It's rewarding, fun, and engaging to work with the College."
Lauder's long and distinguished service culminated this year in the College of Business Appreciation Award given by the College of Business Alumni Association. She was the chair of the Dean's Business Council for an unprecedented three terms where she continues as a member and also serves on the steering committee for the Investing in Excellence campaign. Lauder has also been a convocation speaker, a lyceum speaker, and a member of the Department of Accountancy Visiting Advisory Committee.
Says Lauder: "The U of I gave me confidence because I knew I had received a great education. It has indeed served me well, and I continue to value my U of I education more with each passing year."
