Video Essay Contest Rules
General Rules
- Students
- must be registered, full-time students in grades 9 through 12.
- must live in Champaign County.
- Video Essays
- must address the assigned topic.
- must be the fully the original work of the students submitting the Essay.
- must be appropriate for middle school children to view (no inappropriate visuals, language, or music).
- must have parent or guardian permission to participate.
- Video Essays
- must be no more than 5 minutes in play length.
- must be in .mov, .mpeg, or .wmv format.
- must be burned to a CD and submitted, together with the completed, signed application forms, to

- Any background music must be copyright free or created by the students themselves. Background or other music must be cited in the submission form.[Resources]
- Student submissions must be signed by a teacher, counselor, or administrator of the school. (Note: Official School sponsorship is not required)
- All submissions become the property of the College of Business Financial Literacy Program and may be used to promote financial literacy.
- All decisions of the MSW Video Essay Committee are final. Winners will be announced at the Money Smart Week Kickoff March 31, 2011.
- Prizes are donated by members of the Champaign Rotary Club and friends of the Financial Literacy Program at the University of Illinois Department of Finance. Prizes awarded in one year should not be taken as an indication of prizes to be awarded in subsequent years.
- Videos must be received by 5pm Thursday April 11, 2013.
Submission
To submit the Video
- Burn the Video to a CD.
- Complete the Video Submission form, making sure to include all the information requested, and a teacher or guidance counselor or principal signature as indicated.
- Each of the students must complete the student submission form, making sure to include all the information requested, and a parent or guardian signature as indicated.
