Biographical Sketch

Martin G. H. Wu, an associate professor of accountancy, holds B.S. in Mathematics from Daqing Petroleum Institute, and Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of British Columbia.   Before joining the Illinois faculty in 2001, he was an assistant professor at the Stern School of Business, New York University; a visiting assistant professor at the Sauder School of Business, the University of British Columbia.  Professor Wu has taught Managerial Accounting (both Principles and Advanced: Incentives and Controls) and Accounting Control Systems at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has been listed on the University of Illinois Incomplete List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent in 2004.  Professor Wu focuses his research on corporate governance, in particular, relations between shareholders and managers through performance evaluation, firm valuation, and the economics of auditing.  His research articles have appeared in Review of Accounting Studies, Accounting Review, and Contemporary Accounting Research.  He has received the UIUC’s Raymond A. Hoffman Faculty Excellence Award in 2005.  Between 1999 and 2001 he was awarded research grants from Canadian Social Science and Humanities Research Council.  Professor Wu is a member of the Canadian Academic Accounting Association, and the American Accounting Association.
