Biographical Sketch

Prof Anupam Agrawal graduated from IIT Kanpur, India (1992) and did his MBA from IIM Calcutta, India (1994). He holds a PhD in Technology and Operations Management from INSEAD, France (2008). In a career spanning over a decade in the industry, he has worked in various areas of Supply Chain management, specifically procurement, supplier development and new product development, with ITW Signode Inc, Procter & Gamble and Tata Motors. His empirical research with firms such as Tata Motors, Tata Daewoo, BMW, and Knorr Bremse focused on procurement, sourcing of modular components and learning between buyers and suppliers. Currently he is advising Tata Motors on their supply chain strategy, the Government of India on streamlining the public distribution system, an oil firm on reducing their pump failures, and startups such as Technosys and eduNirvana on their strategic positioning. His current research focuses on how buyers and suppliers can work together, how supply chains learn, and how this learning can depreciate. Prof Agrawal lives in Champaign with his spouse Shuchi, son Shaleen, and daughter Anushka.
