Spring 2012 - Online Course Information

The following information is of interest to College of Business students who will be taking online courses in the Spring 2012.

1- Online courses in the Spring of 2012

(Click on the title to hear the instructor's introduction and find more details about the course)

2- How  to succeed in a fully online course

These courses target College of Business students while they are in their Study Abroad experience. This is probably your first experience as online student, and it is important that you are ready for this experience. Learning online may be more convenient but the time commitment,  responsibilities and type of work demanded in an online course is very similar to a face-to-face course.  For starters, think about these questions and if can respond "yes" to all or most of them, then you are ready to have a great online experience:

1. Are you comfortable interacting with others and doing classwork in a web based environment?
2. Are you self-motivated to complete tasks?
3. Do you have good time management skills?
4. Can you work independently without direct supervision?
5. Do you feel comfortable when most communication  happens by reading and writing?

We would also like to provide you with some information of what it means to be an online students, and a choice of self-tests to see if Online Learning is a good fit with your learning style, or what things you should be paying attention to, to make your experience a very successful one.

3- Access to your the online course

The online courses use the new learning environment at the U of Illinois: IL Compass 2G. You are probably familiar with Illinois Compass from previous semesters, this new generation of IL Compass has some differences with the previous system, so please watch the video that shows how to access, login and customize your new learning space:
