Norma Lauder, '71 Accountancy
Director, University of Illinois—MS Tax Program

Norma Lauder is the Director for the Illinois College of Business MS Tax Program in Chicago.  Lauder calls this her dream job because “it’s rewarding, fun, and engaging to work with the College.” As director of the MS Tax Program, Lauder is able to use her expertise in taxation and accounting as a CPA to benefit the larger Illinois College of Business community.

Prior to her current position with the University of Illinois - College of Business, Lauder spent 18 years as Senior Vice President, Director of Taxes, for Bank One and its predecessor companies (First Chicago and First Chicago NBD).  She held two positions prior to that, as the Vice President of Taxes at Beatrice Companies and as a partner at Arthur Andersen, LLP where she spent the first 14 years of her career.  Her areas of specialization included the taxation of multinational corporations and financial services companies.

Lauder’s professional successes are coupled with many other achievements.  She has served on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Business Development Center since its inception in 1986 and has served as Chair of the Board, as well as, Treasurer and Audit Committee Chair. Lauder was also the chair of the Dean’s Business Council for 3 terms and remains a member there today.  She has been a convocation speaker, lyceum speaker, and a member of the Department of Accountancy Visiting Advisory Committee.  Lauder has also recently received the College of Business Appreciation Award given by the College of Business Alumni Association.

Lauder graduated from the University of Illinois - College of Business with a degree in Accountancy and also has a Master of Science in Taxation degree from DePaul University.
