Following the training class, employees will enter rotational assignments tailored to an industry or distribution service (dealer development) career path. Rotational assignments will be focused on developing industry and product application knowledge as well as a strong understanding of the Caterpillar Dealer network.
Media Associate with Starcom
Associates in strategy groups create and present media plans to clients. They gather and analyze marketing data to determine the client's advertising and media needs, and they analyze media alternatives and make recommendations as to how to best allocate the advertising budget. Plans typically include analysis and recommendations on targeting, geography, scheduling, support level and budget. Success requires deep analytical skills, math proficiency, a good understanding of consumers, and significant creativity.
Associates in investment groups invest client budgets with media vendors in the most effective and efficient way. They develop good predictions of audiences to each medium, utilizing industry data sources and Starcom systems. They must be skilled at negotiating prices and terms with each vendor, eventually placing orders (often in millions of dollars) with them.
Investment associates also monitor the purchase to ensure that all ads run as ordered, deliver audiences as promised, and are billed and paid correctly. Success requires deep analytical skills, math proficiency, strong negotiation skills, and a solid attention to detail.
