Four New Faculty Fellows

In an email announcement to faculty and staff, Greg Oldham, acting Dean for the College, announced the appointments of four new College of Business Faculty Fellows:

Ruth Aguilera (view faculty profile), Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration and Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations, Center for Professional Responsibilities in Business and Society Fellow.

Aguilera earned her Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in economics from the College of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Barcelona. She also pursued graduate study in business analysis at the Management School at Lancaster University, U.K., and completed her Ph.D. in sociology at Harvard University in December 1999, specializing in economic sociology and comparative methods. She joined the University of Illinois in 2006.

Murillo Campello (view faculty profile), Associate Professor, Department of Finance, James T. Towey Faculty Fellow.

Campello joined the Illinois Department of Finance in 2002 and earned his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Illinois in 2000, an M.S. in finance from the University of Illinois in 1995, an M.S. in business administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1995, and a B.A. in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 1991.

Timothy Johnson (view faculty profile), Associate Professor, Department of Finance, Robert and Karen May Faculty Fellow.

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from MIT, an MS in operations research and an MBA from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Chicago. He joined the Illinois Department of Finance in 2006.

Scott Weisbenner (view faculty profile), Associate Professor, Department of Finance, Julian Simon Memorial Faculty Fellow.

Weisbenner earned a Ph.D. in economics from MIT and has been on the Illinois faculty since 2000. Before coming to Illinois, he worked as an economist for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in the capital markets section.

“Each of these individuals has made outstanding contributions to the College and the profession,” said Oldham. “I am gratified that we are recognizing their contributions through our Fellowship program. Please join me in congratulating them for this well-deserved recognition.”
