Professor Ann Abbott, one of AEL's faculty fellows, uses a methodology called community service learning (CSL) in her SPAN 232 Spanish in the Community and SPAN 332 Spanish & Entrepreneurship courses. Students spend half of their time in the classroom and half of their time working in the community.  One of the community partners is the East Central Illinois Refugee Mutual Assistance Center (ECIRMAC) in Urbana, IL.
