PHY 102, How Things Work: Alternative Energies

Conceptual course for non-science majors exploring everyday phenomena: musical instruments, photography, flight, electricity, bicycles, engines, etc. to examine how they work. This course is linked with Professor Heidi Leuszler's course BIO 104 Environmental Biology that gives students an in-depth look at the issue of sustainability in terms of energy, efficiency, and ecology. Student will explore how the world works through environment-related field trips, discussions, and hands-on activities. Discovering more about fossil fuels and alternative energy, recycling, climate change, and city planning will help students make more informed choices.
