Hatim Tyabji is executive chairman of Bytemobile, a communications infrastructure company with the mission of “making every bit count.” Also chairman of DataCard Group, a privately held, worldwide provider of secure ID and card personalization solutions, Tyabji is an innovator who has worked for almost twenty years in the information industry. He is also an ambassador-at-large for Benchmark Capital, a firm that focuses on funding technology companies. Tyabji was previously chairman and CEO of Saraide, a wireless telecommunications firm he founded in 1998. He was chairman and CEO of VeriFone from 1986 to 1998 when market capitalization grew from $30 million to approximately $1.5 billion. A visionary executive leader, Tyabji was honored as Distinguished Executive of the Year for excellence in strategic leadership in 2000 by the Academy of Management. He also received the Point of Sale Industry’s lifetime achievement award in 2001 and the Silicon India lifetime achievement award for excellence in business and technology in 2000. Tyabji holds a BS and MS in electrical engineering and has an MBA in international business. A graduate of the Stanford Executive Program, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the State University of New York. Tyabji serves on the boards of Best Buy, eFunds, Merchant eSolutions, and the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance. He is a member of the dean’s council of the State University of New York at Buffalo.
