Tandean Rustandy Tandean Rustandy is a Champion – but his title doesn’t come with a WWE Title belt or a shiny medal. Rustandy is, instead, an Illinois Launch Champion, a title he gained after contributing $50,000 to the Illinois Launch program at the University of Illinois Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership. Rustandy made his gift to the Academy shortly following a visit to the University; on his trip, Rustandy learned about the Illinois Launch program and listened to presentations made by young, enthusiastic entrepreneurs. He will be recognized as a distinguished donor at the Academy’s Startup Illinois 2011 event on May 19, 2011. As an entrepreneur himself, Rustandy is passionate about helping others succeed; Illinois Launch entrepreneurs are poised to learn a great deal from Rustandy’s success as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Indonesian floor and wall tile company PT. Arwana Citramulia Tbk. After an initial short foray into forestry, Rustandy decided to produce low-cost, high quality ceramic tiles to the middle-to-lower market segment. He studied the industry in Spain, Italy, Thailand, China and Taiwan. Since the firm’s inception in 1996, both Rustandy and PT. Arwana Citramulia Tbk. have garnered international recognition. The company’s 7,000 percent increase over the course of 15 years gained the attention of Forbes magazine in 2006 and Ceramic World Review in 2009; Rustandy’s leadership was recognized by Business Review in 2009, and by the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Program in 2002. As evidenced by his history of high accomplishment, it is clear that Rustandy is a champion in the tile industry as well. |
