Peter Trenchard Successful golf course owner and respected leader in the golf industry Peter Trenchard began his journey at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduation with a BS in Finance, he moved to Deerfield, Illinois where he served on the board of directors for the Park District. Trenchard had an active interest in golf and wanted to bring the sport to the Deerfield community. In 1976 he used his influence as a board member to drive the development of the Deerfield Park District Golf Course. The success of the course and the growing golf industry positioned him for a new business venture. In 1976, Bay Ridge Golf Course in Sister Bay, Wisconsin became available for purchase and Trenchard jumped at the opportunity. Bay Ridge developed into a popular golf course for recreational golfers. Trenchard was a founding member of the National Golf Course Association (NGCA) in 1979, which provides resources and advice for current and prospective golf course owners. Trenchard is largely responsible for developing the golf industry in the Sister Bay community. In 2004 Trenchard was presented with the Rossi Award by the National Golf Course Association (NGCA) to honor him for founding the NGCA, and in recognition of its 25th year. Trenchard continues to serve on the board of directors of the Door County Economic Development Corporation and the board of trustees of the Village of Sister Bay. |
