As Assistant Dean of the College of Business, John focuses on creating curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students that enable the development of relevant experiences, attitudes, and leadership skills. He has been a Clinical Professor in Business Administration at Illinois since 2004. His teaching interests include entrepreneurship, product development, consulting, sustainability, and project management. John has led the development of several new courses and programs targeting undergraduate, graduate, and executives from across the campus. John serves as the executive director of the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership. He has over 20 years of executive leadership in both industry and academia and significant experience in consulting, professional advising, management, business development, and teaching. Prior to working at the University of Illinois he worked as a management consultant in Asia, Europe, and North America. John has a Bachelor of Engineering and a PhD in Physics from the University of Leeds, UK and an MBA from the University of Illinois. |

Lora Day joined the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership in 2010 as assistant to the Director and other programming staff. She assists with the coordination and arrangements relating to the Academy’s meetings, conferences, events and programs. Her responsibilities also include purchasing, preparing accounting documents, and coordinating travel. Lora started at the University of Illinois in March of 1998 and worked for the Office of Undergraduate Affairs in the College of Business until she moved to the Academy of Entrepreneurial Leadership. At Illinois she has served as office manager, business manager, budget coordinator, course scheduler, and assistant coordinator for the College of Business Convocation. Lora has taken business courses at Parkland College. Previous work experience has included a stint in the United States Navy and has worked as a habilitation aid for mentally handicapped adults. |

Paul Magelli is a Senior Director of the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership. He is also Scholar in Residence at Kauffman Foundation, advising on the development and implementation of initiatives to advance entrepreneurship training and knowledge. His past positions include Dean, Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Wichita State University; Vice President for Academic Administration, Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa; President, Metropolitan State College of Denver; and he holds the title of President Emeritus, Parkland College, Champaign, Illinois. Paul earned A.B., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Illinois, and holds an honorary Doctor of Law, honoris causa, from the University of Bristol, U.K., where he helped establish the Bristol Enterprise Centre. He has served on numerous boards of technology-based firms. |

Bob Nelson is the Senior Scholar in Residence and Senior Advisor of the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership. His responsibilities include planning activities that the Academy can be involved in at the international level. He establishes a license agreement between the Academy and the International Training Center in Turin, Italy, which is founded by the International Labor Organization and the Italian Government, and distributes the “Know About Business” curriculum in the United States. Bob assists in the development of an on-line course for teaching the “Know About Business” curriculum, and the preparation of two additional modules for the “Know About Business” curriculum pertaining to Social Entrepreneurship. He also develops a game for use with the “Know About Business” curriculum. Bob was the Educational Specialist of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois, where he developed a Knowledge Center that provided leading edge information technology to promote the advancement of entrepreneurship education. Bob earned his B.S., M.S., and Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University, and Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Illinois State University. |

Amy Ware has served as business manager for the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership since 2010. She handles the financial aspect of the Academy. She works with graduate scholars, faculty fellows, and other departmental business managers to ensure that the funds are properly disbursed for projects supported by the Academy. In addition, Amy works with student entrepreneur groups and startup companies receiving awards from the Illini Entrepreneur Center Network. Amy began working for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1987 and has worked in the College of Medicine, Academic Human Resources, Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, and, beginning in 1994, in the College of Business. She has served as project manager, office manager, business manager, and as the College of Business Convocation Chair. Amy attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in Anthropology. |
