Gerald D. and Lois R. Brighton Scholarship
The Gerald D. and Lois R. Brighton Scholarship was established by Professor Gerald and Lois Brighton in 2005. Gerald earned a B.S. degree in Accountancy in 1941 from the University of Illinois with honors that inlcuded the Bronze Tablet Award. He earned a M.S. in 1947 and his Ph.D. in Accounting in 1953 from the University of Illinois. He began as an Assistant Professor of Accounting in 1954 at the University of Illinois, Associate Professor in 1957 and full Professor in 1969. In 1983 he was appointed to the endowed position of Ernst and Whinney Distinguished Professor of Accountancy. Lois earned a M.S. degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois in 1948. Lois and Gerald met at the University of Illinois in the Fall of 1947 and were married in 1949.
