The new Business Instructional Facility stands proudly as an example of the College’s leadership in corporate, social and environmental responsibility, as well as our commitment to building a better future for Illinois citizens.
Under the Hogan Grand Staircase in the BIF Commons, Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn, members of the Board of Trustees, and University administrators signed the Illinois Sustainable University Compact in cooperation with the Illinois Green Government Coordinating Council and universities and colleges across Illinois.
The compact lists 12 goals to be accomplished by December 31, 2010. The goals include increases in recycling, dependence on locally grown food, the use of renewable energy, and the reduction of pesticide use and carbon emissions among others.
Provided below are several video clips from the ceremony, including Quinn's comments on the University's sustainability efforts, the signing of the compact, and a Q&A session with the media.
