Welcome from Dean Larry DeBrock
Teaching and learning are
at the very core of our purpose in the College of Business at the
University of Illinois. We believe improving the quality of our
teaching is essential to our growth as faculty and to our mission of
helping our students become future leaders. Our Teaching Academy,
through the Center for Teaching Excellence, helps focus our attention
on the regular refinement of instructional skills, effective learning,
and the recognition of teaching excellence. The Academy is a link
through which each of us may contribute valuable experiences, delve
into the challenges of teaching for the benefit of all, and appreciate
those who reach important milestones in their own development.
Seminar Schedule for Spring 2011
This spring, the College will be offering two programs with the goal of building a teaching community; they are the Reflective Teacher Series and Faculty Conversations. The Reflective Teacher series is only offered every three years – so do take advantage of this opportunity. The Faculty Conversations is a very popular program with many of our faculty members participating year after year. A description of each is below. We hope to see you in one or both of these series.
